Alexander Gunn – Drunk Driving – 110 in 50

(MORRIS-TURNBERRY, ON) On December 12, 2011 just after 10:00 p.m. a Huron County OPP officer conducted a traffic stop of a speeding Hyundai traveling northbound on London Road. The officer took a speed reading of the SUV and found the vehicle to be traveling at 110 km/h in a 50 km/h zone.

Upon speaking with the driver, the officer detected the driver had consumed some alcohol. A roadside screening test was conducted and the driver failed. He was immediately arrested and transported to the Huron detachment where he provided two samples of his breath to a qualified Breath Technician.

The results of the two tests confirmed the driver had a blood alcohol level that was above the legal limit of 80 milligrams of alcohol.

As a result, Alexander GUNN (27) of Kitchener, ON has been charged with Drive With Over 80 Milligrams of Alcohol contrary to section 253(1)(b) Criminal Code of Canada and Race a Motor Vehicle contrary to section 172(1) Highway Traffic Act. He will answer to the charges in the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich on January 23, 2012. His driver’s licence has been suspended for 90 days and the vehicle has been impounded for 7 days.
