Westario Power Inc. is warning its customers about a telephone scam where impostors identify themselves as being with Westario Power Inc. and demand an immediate payment for arrears on their account or their hydro will be disconnected.
If you receive one of these calls do not divulge personal or account information over the phone.
Westario Power Inc. customers who are in arrears will receive multiple notifications via their bill, over the phone, and through the mail well in advance of any disconnection action. Westario Power Inc. will never ask for payment by wire transfer. Any payments to Westario Power Inc. using credit cards must be initiated by the customer using Paymentus.
If you receive one of these calls you may report it to the Canadian Anti- Fraud Centre at 1 888 495 8501.
