Detectives’ investigating after man impersonates being a Police officer
On Friday September 23rd, just shortly after 2:30pm, a woman was driving her vehicle in the area of Miles Road and Airport Road in the City of Hamilton, when she saw a flashing light from a vehicle behind her.
The woman pulled over believing that it was a police officer initiating a traffic stop.
The man was operating a vehicle similar to an unmarked police vehicle and had a flashing red light on the dashboard.
A man exited the vehicle and approached the woman’s vehicle where he identified himself as a police officer while flashing some kind of badge quickly.
He then demanded the woman exit her vehicle providing no reason as to why. He was observed wearing some kind of uniform.
The woman immediately questioned the man about his identity and indicated she was contacting police by phone.
The man returned to his vehicle and left without further interactions.
Detectives have now been assigned to investigate and have provided the following information and some general tips about what to do if you are not sure it is a police officer.
Suspect Information
Vehicle as described: Older Ford Crown Victoria, black or dark blue in colour, all black tires/rims.
Suspect as described: White, male, late 40’s to early 50’s, 6′-6’2
