On Monday December 3, 2012 at 2:00 p.m., Guelph Police received a call for service from a Loss Prevention Officer at a business on Silvercreek Parkway Guelph. Information was received that he witnessed a suspect in their store concealing a large number of prepaid gift cards into his pockets. He then left the store without paying for the card. The Loss Prevention Officer followed the suspect into the parking lot where he got into a vehicle and left the area. A description of the vehicle was provided to police, who located it a short time later and arrested the suspect. A search incident to arrest revealed that he was in possession of 54 Prepaid Vanilla MasterCard/Visa gifts cards, valued at $2,125.00.
Yovo BENEV 26 years of Toronto was charged with Theft Under $5000.00, Possession of Property Obtained by Crime and Instrument for Use in Forging Credit Card. He was held for a Bail Hearing.
