ALERT: Firearms Stolen From Unlocked Area Homes – Suspect Descriptions Released

(ASHFIELD-COLBORNE-WAWANOSH, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers including members from the Huron OPP Crime Unit are currently investigating four break, enter and thefts that are believed to be connected.

Police were notified of the crimes yesterday afternoon. Investigators have since determined four farmhouses in the vicinity of St. Helen’s were entered on October 26, 2014 between 9:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. All of the involved residences were unoccupied and had been left insecure.

Two of the farmhouses located on Zion Road had firearms and hunting equipment stolen.

A Cooey, single shot, .22 caliber rifle, with a Browning sling was stolen from a farmhouse on Zion Road. This firearm is valued at $100.

A camo coloured Browning BPS 12 gauge pump action shotgun, a camo coloured Excalibur Vortex crossbow and a camo coloured, older molder Champion compound bow were stolen from a nearby residence on Zion Road. The value of these stolen items is estimated at $900.

Cash and household items, including silverware were stolen from the other residences.

Two males, aged 18 to 30 years of age may be involved. One male had short dark hair and the other had longer blonde hair. The suspect vehicle is described as a being a burgundy/maroon coloured GMC or Chevrolet single cab pickup truck. The pickup truck bed was open.
