Barrie Police responded to a disturbance call on Ross Street after 9pm this evening. The situation the investigating officers arrived to was the 41 year old male victim in this matter was caught in a compromising position with the accused’s girlfriend. The two men are known to each other. The 37 year old accused completely lost his temper and proceeded to assault the victim. He punched him in the face, knocked him to the ground, kicked him in the face, in an uncontrollable rage.
The victim did suffer severe injuries to his face and dislocated his jaw. He was transported to the Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre and was then taken to St. Michael’s Hospital in Toronto where he will undergo surgery. The accused was arrested and charged with Aggravated Assault and will be in Bail Court on August 27th in answer to the charge.
