On Thursday, May 9, 2013 at approximately 12:30 p.m., a lone male entered the Bank of Montreal located at 1315 Commissioners Road East with what appeared to be a gun and demanded money. No one sustained any injuries as a result of the incident.
The suspect fled in a silver Volkswagon Passat which was found a short time later in the parking lot of 590 Millbank Drive, engulfed in flames. It was determined that the vehicle and the plate attached were stolen. The London Fire Department extinguished the fire and there was no damage to any other property.
On August 15, 2013, a 20-year-old male of London was arrested by the London Police Service. As a result of the investigation, Abdullah Youssef has been charged with the following Criminal Code of Canada offences:
Three counts of robbery while armed with an offensive weapon or imitation, contrary to section 343(d);
Arson, contrary to section 434;
Use imitation firearm during the commission of an indictable offence, contrary to section 85(2)(a);
Carry a concealed weapon, contrary to section 90(1);
Have face masked or disguised with intent to commit an indictable offence, contrary to section 351(2);
Two counts of possession of stolen property, contrary to
section 354(1); and
Disqualified operation of a motor vehicle, contrary to section 259(4).
Abdullah Youssef remains in custody and has a court date scheduled for August 27, 2013.
