(PERTH COUNTY, ON) Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers worked hard throughout the Canada Day Long Weekend trying to keep our roadways safe.
From Friday morning June 28th, until midnight July 1st officers increased their patrols and visibility significantly on Perth County Roads. Every available officer was engaged in traffic enforcement and Reduce Impaired Drivers Everywhere (R.I.D.E.) programs.
25 RIDE programs were conducted throughout the County, with officers checking 2347 drivers for sobriety. One driver was found to have been drinking and subsequently failed a roadside breath test. This driver was transported to the Perth County OPP Detachment where she also failed two Intoxilyzer breath tests. Karen SCHEUERMANN (43) of the Township of Perth South has been charged with operation of a motor vehicle with over 80 mgs of alcohol in 100ml of blood”. She is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford on July 29
