9 Year Old Pedestrian Hit By Car

(ST.MARYS, ON) On Thursday March 28, 2013 at 3:37 p.m., Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (O.P.P.) officers were dispatched to a collision on Church St. South in St.Marys near the Library, where a pedestrian had been struck by a car,

Investigation revealed that a 9 year old male, a St.Marys resident, had crossed Queen St. S in an easterly direction between traffic that had stopped for the traffic signal at Queen St. As the young male darted from between the stopped vehicles he was struck by a north bound car that was being driven by a 64 year old male from Stratford. The young male was transported to St.Marys Memorial Hospital where he is being treated for his non-life threatening injuries.

Church St. South between Station Street and Queen St. is expected to remains closed to traffic until approximately 7 p.m. This will allow for the safe investigation of the collision by Perth County OPP officers and the West Region OPP Technical Traffic Investigation unit.
