9 R.I.D.E. CHECKS RESULT IN CHARGES

(PERTH COUNTY, ON) As a result of nine R.I.D.E. checks (Reduce Impaired Drivers Everywhere) throughout Perth County over the weekend, a number of drivers had their drivers licences suspended and others were charged with violations.

On Friday evening a 27 year old male driver from the Municipality of North Perth received a 3 day licence suspension for registering a blood alcohol concentration from .05 to .08 on a roadside screening device at a R.I.D.E. stop in Listowel.

On Saturday evening a 47 year old male from Howick Twp. was issued a 3 day licence suspension for registering a blood alcohol concentration from .05 to .08 on a roadside screening device at a R.I.D.E. stop in Listowel. At the same location a 28 year old passenger of a vehicle, a Township of Perth East resident was found to be in possession of open liquor.

On Saturday evening at a R.I.D.E. program in Shakespeare a driver was charged under the Smoke Free Ontario Act.

On Monday morning shortly after midnight, a vehicle stop in Milverton resulted in a 44 year old Stratford male registering a blood alcohol concentration from .05 to .08 on a roadside screening device. He was issued a 3 day licence suspension.

** Motorists are reminded that the Perth County OPP has a zero tolerance for drivers that choose to drive after consuming alcohol.
