(GODERICH, ON) – Just after 12:00 p.m., members from the Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Detachment along with paramedics from Huron County Paramedic Services responded to a motor vehicle collision involving a pedestrian at the intersection of Balvina Drive East and Bayfield Road.
The preliminary investigation has revealed the injured pedestrian was walking northbound within the crosswalk on Bayfield Road when she attempted to cross over Balvina Drive East. As she was crossing the roadway, a Dodge Ram pickup turned left onto Balvina Drive from Bayfield Road into her path. At this point investigators are trying to determine whether the pickup truck and pedestrian collided or whether the pedestrian lost her balance and fell due to the presence of the truck.
The injured pedestrian, an 87-year-old female from Goderich was transported to a local hospital for treatment. She remains in hospital with serious injuries.
