On Sunday June 5, 2016 Halton Regional Police responded to a serious personal injury collision on Marine Dive east of Bronte Road in the Town of Oakville.
At approximately 9:50 am, an 86-year-old female pedestrian was crossing midblock on Marine Drive in a southerly direction when she was struck by an eastbound sports utility vehicle driven by a 66-year-old male driver. Both the pedestrian and the driver were residents of the Town of Oakville. The pedestrian was dragged under the vehicle for a short distance before the vehicle came to a stop.
The pedestrian was transported to Hamilton General Hospital with life threatening injuries. The driver of the SUV was not injured in the collision.
Due to the seriousness of the injuries, the Collision Reconstruction Unit attended the scene and took carriage of the investigation. Marine Drive was closed in both directions for approximately 3 1/2 hours for the collision investigation.
At this point in the investigation, charges have not been laid. Speed and alcohol are not considered to be contributing factor in the collision.
