86 Year Old Lucky To Be Found After Rolling Car In Deep Ditch

(MUNICIPALITY OF NORTH PERTH, ON) At approximately 8:45 a.m. on Tuesday June 28, 2011 a driver operating a west bound car through the S curve on Perth Line 72 west of Road 140 lost control of the vehicle. This resulted in the vehicle leaving the roadway and entering into the very deep ditch on the north side of the road where the vehicle rolled and came to rest on the driver’s side. The lone female occupant/driver was hung-up in her seatbelt and required assistance from OPP officers, Perth County EMS workers and Atwood fire fighters to get her out of the vehicle.

The 86 year old female driver from Waterloo was transported to Listowel Memorial Hospital with serious but non life threatening injuries. As a result of this crash the driver has been charged with “careless driving”.

The investigating officer stated “the driver was fortunate that another motorist was following her and observed the vehicle enter the ditch. If not for the call by this motorist no one would have been able to spot the vehicle in the deep ditch and it could have remained there for quite some time before anyone would have noticed it”.
