85 Year Old Runs Stop Sign Causes Collision

On November 30, 2015 at 12:06 p.m., the Guelph Police went to Edinburgh Road South at Waterloo Avenue for a two vehicle collision. It is alleged that a white Honda civic travelling south on Edinburgh struck a grey Chevrolet SUV travelling east on Waterloo. The two occupants of the Honda, and a passenger of the Chevrolet were transported to Guelph General Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Initial damage estimates to both vehicles are $6,000.

The driver of the Honda, an 85-year-old Guelph male, has been charged with red light- fail to stop under the Highway Traffic Act.

Break and enter

On November 30, 2015, the Guelph Police went to a Duke Street business to investigate a break and enter. The culprit(s) entered the fenced compound sometime overnight and stole copper wire.

Downtown arrest

On November 30, 2015 at 12:35 p.m., Guelph Police on general patrol downtown observed a male on Macdonell Street that was known to have conditions to not be downtown. A person stop was conducted and the male was arrested. A search subsequent to his arrest discovered a small quantity of Marihuana and Crystal Meth.

A 48-year-old Guelph male has been charged with breach of recognizance, two counts of breach undertaking and two counts of possession of a controlled substance. He was held in custody pending a bail hearing on December 1, 2015.
