At approximately 11:20 a.m. on Wednesday, August 26th emergency services were dispatched to the intersection of 9th Street East at 3rd Avenue East, Owen Sound, regarding a personal injury collision.
Investigation revealed that a 74 year old pedestrian had stepped into the designated crossing area, and commenced crossing 3rd Avenue East, travelling westbound. A Toyota sedan, originally travelling eastbound on 9th Street East made a left turn to travel north along the Avenue, striking the pedestrian and knocking her to the asphalt.
The pedestrian was transported to hospital by ambulance for an ankle injury. The 82 year-old driver was charged under the Highway Traffic Act for failing to yield to a pedestrian. Both of the involved women hail from Owen Sound.82
