(CENTRE WELLINGTON TOWNSHIP, ON) On Friday May 24, 2013, at approximately 3:38pm, Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a motor vehicle collision involving an 8 year old boy being struck on his way home from school. The incident occurred at the intersection of Kertland Street and Church Street in Elora, Centre Wellington Township.
Tye SANDERSON age 8 of Elora, entered the intersection from the Cataract Trail and was struck by a slow moving 2008 Ford Fusion. He was trapped under the vehicle and the Centre Wellington Fire Department raised the Ford Fusion so that paramedics could tend to him.
The boy was transported to Groves Memorial Hospital by Guelph-Wellington Emergency Medical Services (EMS). He is listed with minor injuries.
The investigation is still on-going at this time.
