8 Week Old Baby Abandoned – Megan Sproul & Craig Lush Charged

On Tuesday, March 10, 2015 at 5:40 a.m., an eight-week-old baby was found by a citizen in a car seat outside in the driveway of an Emery Street residence. EMS and police attended at the address and the infant was taken to hospital. The police checked the house to determine if any other children were at risk, and inside they found the infant’s father who had been sleeping. He was bound by a Probation Order to not attend the address and had been drinking alcohol, another violation of that Order. The male was arrested and taken into custody.

Investigation determined that the child’s mother had been arrested by the London Police Service at 1:48 a.m. for operating a motor vehicle while impaired by drug, in the area of Wellington Road and Grey Street.

The investigation determined that the mother had placed the child in the driveway before driving away from the house. While the exact time the child was placed in the driveway could not be determined, the police do not have any reason to believe the mother did not drive directly to the location where she was arrested.

The infant was cleared medically then was turned over to the care of the Children’s Aid Society.

Megan Sproul, (31) of London, has been charged with failing to provide the necessaries of life and abandoning a child, and will appear in court on April 9, 2015.

Craig Lush, (31) of St. Thomas, has been charged with two counts of breach of probation and will appear in court on April 1, 2015.
