78 Year Old Drunk Driver Arrested On Hwy 21

(BLUEWATER, ON) – A 78-year-old driver from Lambton Shores is facing charges of Impaired Driving & Over 80 following a traffic stop that took place earlier this week. At approximately 7:15 p.m. on Monday, December 5, 2016 a Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer observed a Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck travelling northbound on Bluewater Veteran’s Highway near Staffa Road. The officer noted the driver of the truck was driving in an erratic manner so the driver was stopped to check on his sobriety.

Upon speaking with the driver the officer detected the odour of alcohol coming from the driver as well the officer observed several signs that indicated the driver was impaired by alcohol.

As a result, the driver was placed under arrest for impaired driving and was transported to the Huron OPP Detachment for breath tests. He subsequently provided two samples of his breath to a qualified Intoxilizer Technician and both of his samples registered over the legal limit.

78-year-old David DONALD from Lambton Shores has been charged with Impaired Driving & Drive Motor Vehicle – Over 80 Milligrams of Alcohol. He has been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for January 16, 2017 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich. He also received an automatic 90-day driver’s licence suspension and his vehicle was towed and impounded for the week.
