(TOWNSHIP OF CENTRE WELLINGTON, ON) – On November 5, 2019, at approximately 11:45 a.m., a Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer was monitoring traffic on Wellington Road 18, east of Fergus. The officer observed a blue sedan travelling above the posted 80 km/h speed limit. The vehicle was locked on radar in excess of 140 km/h. The driver was also observed driving carelessly through curves, forcing oncoming traffic to yield.
As a result, Cosimo QUIRINO, 74-years-old of Orangeville, has been charged with Racing a Motor Vehicle and Careless Driving, contrary to the Highway Traffic Act. The defendant is scheduled to appear in Guelph at the Ontario Court of Justice – Provincial Offences Court on January 5, 2020.
