On December 14 2017 at 10:30 am, a few Strathroy-Caradoc Police Officers were having a meeting inside police headquarters when their attention was drawn to to our parking lot. The officers watched as a Jeep Cherokee backed up over the curb and bounced to a crooked stop. The officers continued to watch as a man exited the drivers seat and decided to urinate in the parking lot of the police station.
This of course prompted a visit from the Sergeant who had a conversation with the man who was now seated back in the drivers seat. The Sergeant discovered that this fellow had come to pick a friend up from a meeting with the local Probation Officer here at Police Headquarters. What was even more interesting was the open can of beer between the legs of the driver. Police conducted breath tests and found that the male was still under the legal limit to drive.
The 71 year old male from Parkhill was charged with Engaging in a Prohibited Activity under the Trespass to Property Act and with Having an open Container of Liquor in a Public Place. Police remind you that having open liquor in a motor vehicle is unlawful everywhere in Ontario, not just in the parking lot of a police station!
Please everyone, have a safe and happy and fun Christmas season, but please make the right choices when it comes to drinking and driving. Let’s work together to keep our streets and highways safe this holiday season.
