71 Year Old School Bus Driver Pulls Into On-coming Traffic Two Sent To Hospital

(MUNICIPALITY OF WEST PERTH, ON) On Thursday February 05, 2015, shortly after 7:45 a.m., Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers were dispatched to a collision involving a School Bus and a car at the intersection of Road 155 and Line 32, east of Mitchell. The school bus was not carrying students at the time of the collision.

As a result of the OPP investigation, it was determined that the school bus was driving south bound on Road 155, after stopping at the stop sign it entered the intersection directly in the path of a Chevrolet Malibu that was travelling east bound on Line 32.

The 55 year old male driver of the Malibu, a resident of the Municipality of West Perth sustained minor injuries as a result of the collision. The 71 year old female driver of the school bus, a Municipality of West Perth resident sustained minimal injuries. Both drivers were transported to a local hospital. The school bus driver has been charged with “fail to yield to traffic on through highway”, contrary to the Highway Traffic Act of Ontario.
