(MORRIS-TURNBERRY, ON) – A 70-year-old from North Huron is facing criminal charges for Impaired Driving following his arrest that took place over the Family Day Holiday weekend.
Shortly after 9:00 a.m. on Monday, February 20, 2017 Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers received a call from a concerned citizen that came across a GMC Sierra stuck in a snowy ditch at the intersection of London Road and Belfast Road.
The concerned citizen checked on the driver and made some observations that the driver may have been impaired as a result police were contacted. As a result, a Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer arrived on scene and spoke with the male driver. Upon assessing the driver it was determined the driver had consumed some alcohol and his ability to drive a motor vehicle was impaired by alcohol. As a result the driver was placed under arrest for Impaired Driving.
He was subsequently transported to the Huron OPP Detachment where he provided two samples of his breath to a qualified Intoxilizer Technician; both of his samples registered over the legal limit.
70-year-old Neil OLSON from North Huron has been charged with Impaired Driving, Drive Motor Vehicle – Over 80 Milligrams of Alcohol and Careless Driving. He has been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for April 3, 2017 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich. He also received an automatic 90-day driver’s licence suspension and his vehicle was towed and will be impounded for seven days.
