(MUNICIPALITY OF NORTH PERTH, ON) On Thursday January 20, 2011 shortly after 1 p.m., a suspicious person call was received by the Perth County OPP in Listowel. The caller reported that an elderly male had parked his vehicle behind a business on Wallace Ave. and was standing beside it acting strangely.
Police attended and located the man inside the vehicle smoking a cigar. A young mother and a 2 year old child were seated in the vehicle. While speaking to the male a strong smell of cigar smoke came from inside the vehicle.
The driver, 70 year old Municipality of North Perth Resident was charged under the Smoke Free Ontario Act for having lighted tobacco in a motor vehicle while a person who is less than 16 years old was present in the vehicle.
