65 Year old Brantford Bicycle Salesman Man Charged With Sexual Assaulting Children

Brantford man faces numerous charges in relation to sexual assault offences involving young male victims

On April 16, 2015 the parent of a 14 year old male contacted the BPS and reported that her son had been sexually assaulted by a man who was a friend of their family.

An investigation began involving the BPS C.A.S.A Unit (Child Abuse and Sexual Assault Unit). Information was received that the victim (aged 13 years at the time of the offence) had been invited on several occasions to the accused home and during these visits is when the offences were reported to have occurred. During the investigation Detectives spoke with a second victim who reported being sexually assaulted at the accused home. Victim #2 who was 13 years old at the time of the incident reported that he had attended the accused residence to purchase a used bicycle when the incident took place. Information was received that the accused was known to sell bicycles from his home. During the investigation it was discovered that there was a third victim. Victim #3 who is now 13 years of age reported also being sexually assaulted at the accused home. Victim #3 was befriended by the accused several years ago and has attended the accused home on numerous occasions.

These separate incidents took place at the accused home between 2011 and 2014.

Detectives believe there may be more victims.

The accused was arrested without incident on May 24, 2015 and held in custody for a bail hearing.

A sexual assault is any form of unwanted sexual contact. It includes, but is not limited to, kissing, grabbing, oral sex and penetration.

What is Child Sexual Abuse?

It can include:

•being touched, fondled, looked at, spoken to, hugged and/or or kissed in a sexual way;

•oral and/or anal sex;

•rape and/or digital penetration;

•exposure to pornographic materials (including forced participation);

•forced to watch adults engage in sexual behaviours; and

•being forced to touch adults or yourself in a sexual way

It is generally accepted that about 80% of offenders are known to the child;

And in less than 20% of the cases they are strangers.

Warning signs of Child Sexual Abuse

Sexually abused children may exhibit different behaviours.

Some behaviours include:

•withdrawal

•crying

•complaining of physical illnesses

•engage in destructive behaviours

•act out in sexually inappropriate ways

•have problems sleeping

•wet the bed

•may run away

•engage in self abuse

•may have problems concentrating
