60 Vehicles Inspected – 16 Passed

(SOUTH BRUCE COUNTY, ON.) – The South Bruce OPP along with Ministry of Transportation enforcement officers conducted vehicle safety inspections to enhance roadway safety. The safety lane inspection dates were strategically selected to coincide with the Canada Road Safety Week initiative. Vehicles for inspection were identified by South Bruce OPP officers while on patrol.

On Tuesday May 15th, 2012 a vehicle inspection station was set up at the MTO yard on Highway 21 in Kincardine Township where 28 vehicles were inspected. Licence plates were removed from 7 vehicles, another 15 vehicles received notice for required repairs and 6 vehicles were deemed safe. 6 offence notices were issued including: Defective brakes, No muffler, No CVOR certificate, No annual inspection sticker (2) and Overweight.

On Wednesday May 16th, 2012 a vehicle inspection station was set up at the former MTO building on Kincardine Highway in Walkerton where 32 vehicles were inspected. Licence plates were removed from 6 vehicles, another 13 vehicles received notice for required repairs and 10 vehicles were deemed safe. 8 offence notices were issued including: No annual inspection sticker (2), Fail to surrender inspection report, No CVOR certificate Improper brakes, Drive motor vehicle with major defect, Insecure load and Overweight. 3 vehicles failed to attend for inspection, enforcement officers will be following up with the owners.
