(TOWNSHIP OF PERTH EAST, ON) On Thursday September 13, 2012 at approximately 3:45 p.m., Perth County OPP officers were dispatched to Line 67 near Road 124 (north east of Milverton), where a pedestrian had been struck by a mini van.
Investigation revealed that a 6 year old male child ran out in a north bound direction, directly in front of a west bound van. The child was struck near the north edge of the road and the impact caused him to be thrown into the north ditch.
The child, a Township of Perth East resident, was transported by land ambulance to the Stratford airport from where he was transported by air ambulance to London Health Sciences with non life threatening injuries.
The van driver an 80 year old male from the Township of Perth East did not sustain injuries as a result of the collision.
Line 67 was closed between Perth Road 121 and Road 124 from 3:45 p.m. until 5:45 p.m. to allow for the OPP Western Region Traffic Collision Investigation Unit to safely investigate this incident. Further investigation will continue.
