6 Sent To Hospital Following Collision In Perth

(ELLICE TOWNSHIP, ON)- On Sunday, August 27, 2017 at approximately 3:34 p.m. the Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were called to a report of a two vehicle collision on Road 122 and Line 39, Ellice Township, Perth County.

The collision occurred when a Toyota car travelling northbound on the Road 122, entered the intersection and collided with a Ford car which was eastbound on Line 39. At the intersection, Road 122 is controlled by stop signs and Line 39 is a through road.

The Perth East Township Fire Department along with Perth County Paramedics attended the scene and assisted at the scene.

As a result of the collision, six people were injured and transported to hospital with various injuries. From the Toyota car, the adult male driver, an adult female passenger, and two children, a 7-year-old and 1-year old were transported to area hospital with non-life threatening injuries. A 4-year-old child who was also a passenger in the Toyota car was transported to area hospital with life threatening injuries. The adult male driver of the Ford car was transported to area hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The OPP Technical Collision Investigators attended the scene to assist with the investigation.

Road closures in the area are as follows:

Road 122 between Line 36 and Line 42

Line 39 between Road 119 and Road 125

The roads are expected to re-open at approximately 10:30 p.m. OPP are asking travellers to avoid the area and obey all road closures.

The cause of the collision remains under investigation. Police are asking if anyone may have witnessed this collision and have not yet spoken to police to contact Perth County OPP at 1-888-310-1122.
