Officers from the Barrie Police Traffic Unit and Uniform Patrols Division conducted a R.I.D.E. Program focusing their attention to areas of high vehicle traffic.
Officers stopped a total of 482 vehicles at numerous locations throughout the City and as a result, two males were charged with Driving with Over .80 mgs and were suspended for (90) days. A total of 15 Roadside Screening Device were administered. As a result of the R.I.D.E. spot-checks, one person was also arrested for possession of marihuana and a second for consuming open alcohol while operating a motor vehicle.
The Barrie Police Traffic Unit would like to remind driver’s that being caught drinking while driving will not only result in a substantial fine & driver’s license suspension, it may result in causing serious injury or death to yourself or someone else. Please ensure that if you are intending on driving a motor vehicle to your destination where you plan to consume alcohol, that you arrange for a designated driver, utilize a taxi, or use public transit.
