(MIDDLESEX COUNTY, ON) – On October 2017, members of the Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) became engaged in a child luring investigation.
Members of the Middlesex OPP responded to a report from a concerned resident who received sexually explicit and inappropriate messages from an unknown person. The complainant contacted police to report these events.
The investigation was led by the Middlesex OPP Crime Unit with the assistance of the OPP Child Sexual Exploitation Unit and the West Region (WR) Regional Support Team.
After months of investigative work, detectives identified the sender as a 41-year-old male. This male had attempted to lure a young person into a sexual act. The accused and intended victim are not known to each other.
As a result of this police investigation, Stewart EGGLESTON of Mississauga, Ontario, has been charged with the following offences pursuant to the Criminal Code of Canada:
CC 152 Invitation to Sexual Touching under 16 years of age
CC 172.1(1)(b) Luring a Person Under 16 years of age by means of Telecommunication
On March 1, 2018, the accused was arrested in Mississauga and appeared before the courts in London where he was remanded into custody.
