At approximately 9:00 am, Owen Sound Police Service responded to a multi vehicle collision at the intersection of 8th Street East and 9th Avenue East. Four vehicles travelling westbound on 8th Street East were stopping for a traffic control signal changing to red at the intersection. Three vehicles were able to stop safely while the 4th vehicle slid into the rear of the vehicle in front of it setting off a chain reaction. Four vehicles received minor to moderate damage as a result of the collisions. There were no charges laid by police as the accident has been blamed on the icy road conditions that existed this morning. There were no injuries reported by any of the vehicle occupants.
Police remind motorists to slow down and proceed with caution when approaching intersections, especially during winter like road conditions. Stopping your vehicle quickly in response to the unexpected actions of pedestrians and other motorists may be difficult due to varying road conditions.
