36 Year Old Racer Caught On Hwy 21 – Name Released

(CENTRAL HURON, ON) – A male driver from South Huron has been charged with Racing following a traffic stop that took place on January 14, 2017. Just before 6:30 a.m. a Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer spotted a Toyota Tundra pickup truck traveling northbound on Bluewater Veteran’s Highway near Kitchigami Road at a high rate of speed. The officer confirmed his visual observations of the approaching vehicle with a RADAR device and confirmed the speed of the racing pickup at a speed in excess of 50km/h over the posted 80 km/h zone. A traffic stop was initiated and the driver was subsequently charged.

Mathew STEENSTRA, 36 years of age, from South Huron has been charged with “Race a Motor Vehicle”. He has a court appearance scheduled for March 10, 2017 at the Provincial Offences Act Court in Goderich. His licence was suspended for seven days and his motor vehicle was impounded for a week.
