33 Year Old Brantford Man Arrested For Stolen Property

Locations: Morrell Street and King George Road

Incident: On Tuesday, March 22nd, 2016, around 1:00 a.m. a male had broken into the rear fenced compound to an automotive company on Morrell Street by cutting the lock on the gate by using a set of bolt cutters. The male then entered into the compound and went into a shipping/storage container and cut the lock off the storage container where he stole various automotive parts and items and left the scene in his car.

Around 1:20 a.m. an officer on patrol on King George Road observed a suspicious vehicle parked behind Meineke Car Care located at 50 King George Road, Brantford. The officer observed a male who was outside of the vehicle at the back of the business. The male quickly got into his car and tried to leave, however he was stopped by police. As the officer spoke to the 33 year old driver the officer could see various automotive parts including exhaust parts, a radiator and rim (tire), which had recently been reported as stolen. Also visible on the front passenger seat of the car was a pair of red handled bolt cutters.

The male driver was placed under arrest for possession of break and enter tools. Upon searching the male two padlocks with their clasps having been cut off were also found. It later turned out that the two locks were the same ones that had been used at the Morrell Street business.

Further search inside of the vehicle turned up five empty beer kegs, believed to be from a local restaurant or bar, a 20 pound propane tank and a tank of forane (R-134 Refrigerant) used for vehicle air conditioning.

The stolen items were returned to the owner of the automotive business on Morrell Street. The rightful owners of the kegs are not known at this time. Any restaurant missing five kegs are asked to contact the Brantford Police and file a report.

As a result a 33 yr old Brantford man has been charged with break and enter; possession of break in tools and possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000 .
