(TOWNSHIP OF GEORGIAN BLUFFS, ON) – On February 4, 2016 at approximately 4:45 p.m., Grey County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a possible impaired driver after the vehicle nearly struck a parked car and drove over a curb within the City of Owen Sound.
An OPP observed the suspect vehicle, a 2003 GMC pick-up truck, being driven erratically northbound on Hwy. 6 near Stone School Road in the Township of Georgian Bluffs. Police stopped the vehicle which was occupied by the driver and two passengers, one of whom was under 12 years of age. The driver, who was found to be impaired by drug, was arrested for impaired operation of a motor vehicle and transported to the Chatsworth OPP Detachment where he was evaluated by a qualified Drug Recognition Evaluator who determined that the driver was impaired by drug.
31-year old Jesse Delmar PORTER, of South Bruce Peninsula, was charged with Impaired Driving (by Drug); Possession of a Schedule I Substance (Heroin), Possession of a Schedule I Substance (Cocaine); Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking (Heroin) and Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking (Heroin), under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA).
A bail hearing is scheduled for today, February 5, 2016, in Owen Sound.
