3 Day Suspension Issued

(ACW, ON) On August 8, 2009 at approximately 8:30 am, a vehicle was stopped on Londesboro Road after it was found to be speeding. Upon speaking with the driver, the officer detected the odour of alcohol coming from the drivers’ breath. The officer read a demand for the driver to provide a roadside sample of his breath. The driver complied and the result was a “Warn” indicating the driver had too much alcohol in his system. The 23 year old Huron East man was charged with speeding and he was issued a 3 day licence suspension. LP09199301

(Bluewater, ON) In a separate incident on August 9, 2009 at 1:30 am, an off duty officer called in a suspected impaired driver on London Road in Bluewater. A Huron OPP officer intercepted the suspect vehicle based on information called in by the off duty officer.

After speaking to the driver, the officer formed the grounds to make a demand that the driver provide a roadside sample of his breath. The driver complied and the result was once again a “Warn”. The 21 year old Lucknow man was issued a 3 day licence suspension. LP09200084

Drivers are being reminded that with the new 3 day suspensions, there are now serious consequences to licencing and insurance that did not exist previously. If you are not certain whether you should drive a vehicle after consuming alcohol, it is best to find another driver or another way home. The risks are too high.
