(TOWNSHIP OF PERTH SOUTH, ON) – On Tuesday April 19, 2016, shortly after 8 p.m., an Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer on patrol observed an extremely fast moving motor vehicle on Hwy 7 (Elginfield Rd) near St.Marys. The motor vehicle was pulled over and the driver was summonsed to court for “racing”.
The motor vehicle was observed driving west bound on Hwy 7 west of the Oxford Road 119 traffic circle at a high rate of speed. The officer activated the police radar and a reading of 155 km/h was displayed. This is 75 km/h above the posted 80 km/h zone.
The male driver of the 2013 Ford Edge, 28-year-old Justin David ROBINSON of London was issued a summons for “race a motor vehicle”. He is to appear in Stratford Court on May 24, 2016, to answer to this charge. His driver’s licence was suspended for seven days and his vehicle was towed from the scene and has been impounded for a week.
The speed limits on sunny days and on dry roads don’t change. Posted speed limits are not guidelines, they are the law. Exceeding these limits by driving faster may cause disaster.
