27 Year Old Drunk Driver Caught

(CENTRAL HURON, ON) – A 27 year old Stratford resident has been charged with Drive Motor Vehicle – Over 80 Milligrams of Alcohol after he was stopped by police during the early morning hours of May 2, 2015. At approximately 3:17 a.m. Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers on patrol observed the driver of a Buick Allure make a U-turn on Black’s Point Road near Huron Road. Officers proceeded to stop the driver to check on his sobriety and upon speaking with the driver they detected the odour of alcohol on the driver’s breath. Officers also spotted an open container of alcohol inside the vehicle.

A roadside screening test was performed and the driver registered a fail. He was placed under arrest and was transported to the Huron OPP Detachment for breath tests. He subsequently provided two samples of his breath to a qualified Intoxilizer Technician and both samples registered over the legal limit.

As a result, 27 year old Michael KELLY from Stratford has been charged with Drive Motor Vehicle – Over 80 Milligrams of Alcohol. He has been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich on June 1, 2015. He also received an automatic 90 day driver’s licence suspension and his motor vehicle has been impounded for seven days.
