27 Year Old Caught Going 140 in an 80

(TOWNSHIP OF MAPLETON, ON) – On Friday October 19, 2018, at approximately 1:18 a.m., a Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer was conducting radar enforcement and monitoring traffic on Wellington Road 109 near Side Road 15 in Mapleton Township. The officer observed a male driving a grey pick-up truck at a speed that appeared to be well above the posted 80 km/h speed limit. The vehicle was locked on radar in excess of 140 km/h.

27-year-old Nilaksan SHANMGARAJAH of Brampton has been charged with Race a Motor Vehicle contrary to the Highway Traffic Act and is scheduled to appear in Guelph Provincial Court on December 5, 2018. His driver’s licence and vehicle were seized for a period of seven days as per statute.
