On September 4, 2015 the Guelph Police Service Drug Unit became involved in an investigation that involved shipments of marihuana coming from British Columbia to Ontario via a courier service. A shipment of 13.2 lbs of marihuana was intercepted in Guelph that was bound for an address in Kitchener. The value of the marihuana was approximately $26,000.
Investigation led to the arrest of two men. The investigation into the origin of the marihuana is ongoing.
Logan Livingston, 25 years of Kitchener has been charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking. He will appear in court on October 20, 2015.
Michael Royle, 27 years of Waterloo has been charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking and personation with intent. He will appear in court on October 20, 2015.
Give the Kids a Brake
On September 10, enforcement in various school zones and surrounding neighbourhoods led to 52 tickets being issued. Police will continue to have increased enforcement in school zones so slow down, be aware of your surroundings and give the kids a break.
Impaired driver arrested
On September 10, 2015 at 10:26 p.m., the Guelph Police received the report of a possible impaired driver in the south end. The driver and vehicle were located and the male driver was arrested.
Scott Jellous, 35 years of Guelph has been charged with impaired driving and driver over 80 mg. He will appear in court on September 22, 2015.
R.I.D.E. leads to an arrest
On September 10, 2015 at 11:30 p.m., the Guelph Police set up a R.I.D.E check on College Avenue East. At 11:47 p.m. police spoke with the male driver of a car passing through the check and a demand was made for a roadside breath sample. He failed this test and was arrested.
Noah Anderson, 25 years of Guelph has been charged with drive over 80 mg. He will appear in court on September 29, 2015.
Shoplifter arrested
On September 10, 2015 at 3:10 p.m., the Guelph Police went to Walmart to assist with a shoplifter. The man was arrested outside the store after leaving with stolen property. A search subsequent to his arrest discovered a small quantity of marihuana.
A 44-year-old Guelph man has been charged with theft under $5,000, possession of a controlled substance, breach of recognizance and two counts of breach of probation. He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing on September 11, 2015.
Break and enter
On September 10, 2015 at 11:37 p.m., the Guelph Police went to a motel located on Woolwich Street to investigate a break and enter. The culprit(s) had entered sometime in the previous hour and stole a laptop, alcohol and a wallet.
