(TOWNSHIP OF SOUTHGATE, ON) – On Sunday, January 17, 2016 at approximately 3:52 p.m., Grey County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a single motor vehicle collision on Hwy. 6 south of Grey of Grey Rd. 9 in the Township of Southgate.
Police at the scene found that a 2013 Honda Civic vehicle had left the roadway, collided with a posted sign before coming to rest in the ditch. Information was received that the vehicle was being driven erratically prior to the collision. Police found that the lone driver had been drinking alcohol. After registering a “Fail” on a roadside breath test, he was taken to the West Grey Police Service for further breath tests, which he failed.
26-year old Ryan Michael PRONG of Campbellford, Ontario was charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle, driving with more than 80 milligrams of alcohol in his bloodstream and breach of probation under the Criminal Code. He was also charged with offences under the Highway Traffic Act, Liquor Licence Act and the Environmental Protection Act.
PRONG is scheduled to appear in court in Owen Sound on February 4, 2016.
