26 Year Old Drunk Driver Caught Going 120 On London Road

(BLUEWATER , ON) – A traffic stop conducted by Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) on March 15, 2016 has resulted in a 26-year-old Central Huron man facing a number of charges. At approximately 9:43 p.m. a Huron OPP officer observed a GMC Sonoma travelling northbound on London Road near Mill Road at a high rate of speed. The officer measured the speed of the fast moving pickup truck with a RADAR device and confirmed the speed to be at a high of 120 km/h in a posted 80 km/h zone. The vehicle was subsequently stopped and upon speaking with the driver the officer noted the driver had been drinking alcohol. A roadside screening test was completed which resulted in a fail for the driver.

The driver was placed under arrest and searched. Upon searching the driver officers located a small quantity of marihuana on the driver. He was then transported to the Exeter OPP Detachment where he provided two samples of his breath to a qualified Intoxilizer Technician. Both samples registered over the legal limit.

As a result, 26-year-old Michael STEPHEN from Central Huron has been charged with Drive Motor Vehicle – Over 80 Milligrams of Alcohol, Possession of a Schedule II Substance (Marihuana) – Under 30 grams and Speeding. He was released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for May 9, 2016 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich. He also received an automatic 90-day driver’s licence suspension and his vehicle was impounded for seven days.
