26 Year Old Drunk Driver Arrested In Goderich

(GODERICH, ON) – A 26-year-old driver from Goderich is facing a criminal code charge of “Drive Motor Vehicle – Over 80 Milligrams” following a traffic stop that took place yesterday afternoon. Just before 12:30 p.m. on January 24, 2016 a Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer responded to a complaint involving the driver of a Honda Civic travelling southbound on Bluewater Veteran’s Highway in an erratic manner.

At 12:34 p.m. the OPP officer spotted the suspect vehicle as it entered into Goderich travelling south on Victoria Street North. The vehicle was followed and subsequently stopped on Bruce Street. Upon stopping the vehicle the officer spoke with the female driver and noted she had been drinking alcohol.

A roadside screening device was completed which resulted in a fail. The driver was placed under arrest and transported to the Huron OPP Detachment where she provided two samples of her breath to a qualified Intoxilizer Technician. Both samples registered over the legal limit.

As a result, 26-year-old Sheila KUIK from Goderich has been charged with Drive Motor Vehicle – Over 80 Milligrams of Alcohol. She was released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for March 14, 2016 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich. She also received an automatic 90 day driver’s licence suspension.
