(ASHFIELD-COLBORNE-WAWANOSH, ON) – Failing to pull over immediately has led to a criminal charge against a 25 year old male driver. On December 29, 2012 at approximately 3:40 a.m. a Huron County OPP officer observed a black Chevrolet Tahoe travelling westbound on Nile Road over the posted speed limit. The officer turned around and attempted to stop the driver. The driver failed to immediately stop and tried to lose the officer by accelerating. The officer was able to follow the suspect vehicle and after a distance of just over 5 kilometers the driver slowed down and safely pulled over. The driver was immediately arrested for flight from police. Upon speaking with the driver the officer detected he had been drinking alcohol. A roadside test was completed and the driver registered a warn range reading.
The 25 year old driver from Ashfield-Colborne-Wawanosh was given a 3 day driver’s licence suspension and has been charged with Flight from Police. He has a court date set for February 11, 2013 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.
