(SAUGEEN FIRST NATION, ON) – On February 10, 2018 at 8:47 p.m. Bruce Peninsula Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were called to a motor vehicle stuck in the ditch on Bruce County Road 13 south of Pashwood Drive. Police arrived on scene and the vehicle in question was gone. Police patrolled the area and stopped a vehicle matching a similar description. The vehicle, a 2010 Honda white in colour, was travelling south on French Bay Road on Saugeen First Nation.
Police conducted a road-side screening breath test after observing an odour of an alcohol on the driver’s breath. The result of the test was a Fail” on the approved road-side screening device. The driver was arrested for driving with more than 80 milligrams (mg) of alcohol in his blood. Following the arrest police located a baggie containing less than a gram of a white powder believed to be cocaine.
Police transported the accused to the Bruce Peninsula OPP detachment in Wiarton to complete a breath test. The results of the two suitable breath samples were almost three times the legal limit of 80 mg of alcohol in 100 millilitres(ml) of blood.
