(HURON EAST, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a 23 year old male driver from Huron East following a traffic stop on April 17, 2015. At approximately 9:30 p.m. the driver of a Volkswagen entered a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (R.I.D.E) checkpoint located at the intersection of Front Road and Kinburn Line.
While speaking with the occupants, officers observed a plastic baggie containing cannabis marihuana inside the vehicle. The driver and passenger were then placed under arrest and searched. The validation sticker on the licence plate was also found to be expired.
As a result, the driver 23 year old Johannes KEMERINK OP SHIPHORST, from Huron East has been charged with Possession of a Schedule II Substance – (Cannabis Resin) & Drive Motor Vehicle – No Validation on Plate. He has been released from custody with a scheduled court appearance on June 1, 2015 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.
The passenger was released unconditionally.
