On Friday June 10, 2016, just shortly after 1:00am, a Hamilton police officer was in the area of the Lincoln M. Alexander Parkway and the Upper James Street overpass conducting traffic related enforcement.
The officer was operating a fully marked police vehicle equipped with emergency equipment and lights.
While situated in the area the officer observed a vehicle travelling Eastbound on the Lincoln M. Alexander Parkway and accelerating. The officer received information that the vehicles speed was reaching 180km/h in a 90 km/h zone.
The officer activated the vehicles emergency lights and initiated a traffic stop.
The driver, a 22 year old man from Hamilton, was charged with stunt driving. His licence was seized and his vehicle towed from the scene and impounded for 7 days.
The man will appear in court at a later date to answer to this charge.
