22 Cases Of Counterfeit Money In Huron – Police To Hold Seminar 13June2017 Clinton

(HURON COUNTY, ON) – In an effort to educate and protect local retailers from losses sustained from counterfeit currency Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) & Libro Credit Union will be hosting an upcoming Counterfeit Money & Fraud Seminar”.

Just five months into 2017 and Huron OPP has already investigated 22 cases where counterfeit money has been passed onto retailers and banking institutions. Denominations of these counterfeit bills have ranged from $5 to $100 in both US dollars and Canadian dollars. Four of these investigations have been cleared by way of charges.

The significant rise in the number of counterfeit currency investigations from previous years has prompted Huron OPP to organize an educational seminar led by subject matter experts from the Bank of Canada and the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP).
