(HOWICK, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received some public assistance this past weekend that led to the arrest of a South Bruce resident. On September 25, 2015 at approximately 9:35 p.m. a Howick resident called police to report she had just spotted two suspicious pedestrians walking around the area of Spencetown Road and Malcolm Line. To the caller they both looked out of place; they were dressed in all black clothing and they were both carrying backpacks.
A Huron OPP officer responded to the area and was able to locate the pedestrians. Upon speaking with them the officer determined one of the pedestrians had an outstanding warrant for her arrest from Wellington County OPP. After learning this information the officer placed the 21-year-old female from South Bruce into custody. She was subsequently transported to the Palmerston OPP Detachment where she was held in custody.
This case serves as a great reminder that concerned citizens can make a difference in reducing crimes in their community. Reporting suspicious behavior in a timely manner will help police prevent criminal activity. Huron OPP encourages people to call in and report any behavior that is deemed suspicious.
