(HURON EAST, ON) – A 21-year-old male driver from Hensall has been charged with Impaired Driving & Over 80 following a crash that took place during the early morning hours of February 4, 2017.
At approximately 2:52 a.m. Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers received information about a pickup truck in the ditch on Morrison Line. Minutes later a Huron County OPP officer responded to the scene located on Morrison Line just north of Hensall Road. Upon arrival the investigating officer observed vehicle tracks that indicated the pickup truck was travelling northbound when it left the roadway, drove into the ditch and then became stuck in a field.
Upon checking out the vehicle the investigating officer located a male sleeping in the driver’s seat. The officer was able to rouse the sleeping male and at that point the officer made some observations that led him to believe the driver was impaired by alcohol.
As a result the driver was placed under arrest for impaired operation of a motor vehicle. He was then transported to the Lucan OPP Detachment where he provided two samples of his breath to a qualified Intoxilizer Technician; both of his samples registered over the legal limit.
21-year-old Luke ALEXANDER from Hensall has been charged with Impaired Driving and Drive Motor Vehicle with Over 80 Milligrams of Alcohol. He has been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for March 13, 2017 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich. He also received an automatic 90-day driver’s licence suspension and his motor vehicle was impounded for seven days.
