On Wednesday February 22 nd , 2017, just after 1:00 a.m., the Owen Sound Police responded to a complaint of excessive noise in the 1000 block of 3 rd Avenue East where it was reported that a vehicle was revving its engine. Officers arrived to investigate and found the male driver of the vehicle showing signs of impairment. A road side screening device was used which the male registered a ‘fail’ on the device. The driver was arrested and brought to a nearby Police Detachment where he provided two samples of his breath. Both samples provided measured more than two times the legal limit of alcohol in his body. Upon arrest officers further found the male to have open liquor in the vehicle and he was also in possession of a quantity of marijuana.
The 21 year old male from the Municipality of Meaford was charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle, possession of marijuana as well as other provincial offences relating to the incident.
The vehicle involved has been impounded for 7 days and the driver had his licence suspended for 90 days. The male is to appear in court on March 9 th , 2017, in Owen Sound.
