(TOWNSHIP OF PERTH EAST, ON) On Wednesday July 15, 2015, Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers were called to a rural address along Road 116 south of Hesson, where the owner discovered his Jeep Liberty had been stolen.
Investigation revealed that sometime after 12:30 a.m. on Wednesday July 15, 2015, an unknown person(s) entered onto the rural property and checked the unlocked Jeep that was parked at the back of the property. The ignition key of the Jeep was located in one of the vehicles cup-holders and was used to drive it away. Personal belongings and a large number of tools were also located in the Jeep. The Jeep was driven from the property in an unknown direction.
The Jeep is described as a charcoal-brown 2006 Jeep Liberty. Ontario licence plates BVWY149 were attached to the vehicle.
Anyone with information about the theft of this Jeep or knowing its whereabouts is requested to contact the Perth County OPP at 1-888-310-1122. Should you wish to remain anonymous, you may call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477), and you may be eligible to receive a cash reward of up to $2,000
The OPP wants to urge vehicle owners to lock and secure their vehicles when they are parked. DO NOT leave keys and valuables in your vehicles. Residents living in the country are not immune to vehicle thefts, as rural properties and residences are often seen as easy targets by criminally minded individuals.
